Celebrations are planned for New Years Eve each year and a gift basket is a wonderful way to treat your host or hostess to something special. Basketmakers have the bonus of being able to create a special basket to use. Make a new basket or select a basket you have made previously. Then fill it and decorate it especially for the occasion.

Line the basket with one of these gift basket supplies to cushion items:

• raffia
• willow bark
• splint shavings
• straw
• a piece of fabric
• plastic wrap
• colored confetti
• crumpled tissue paper
• shredded newsprint or colored paper
• colored cellophane "grass"

Have On Hand As You Make Your Gift Basket:

• Wicker basket with handle
• Cordless Two Temp Glue Gun
• Wired Edge Ribbon
• Cellophane Basket Bags or Wrap
• Dried or silk flowers, leaves, etc.
• Wrapped Floral Wire or paddle wire
• Fiskars 5'' Diagonal Craft Cutter
• Stuff to put in the basket

Tips for decorating:

Once you have filled your basket you can wrap it in cellophane. Simply gather the cellophane around the basket and tie at the top with ribbon. Some baskets are best left unwrapped. Finish them instead with colorful bows, ribbons, floral spray, better yet, a basket tie-on or other embellishment.
